Dan, Champion of the South!

Dan Giffin finally won a race, last of the Southern XC series, cruzing home nearly a whole minute before 2nd place. With it, Dan confirmed his 1st place as overall champion in the Sport catagory.
After the race in an interview Dan was heard to say 'Yeah it was piss easy, the competition were sh...'
'shocked at your speed?'
'Err, yeah. Anyway, Next year I?m going to leave these lo...'
'lovely people?'
'Err, yeah, and move up to Elite category. I?ll show them bast...'
'bastions of the sport?'
'Err, yeah. Long term I'm out to be the Olympic champion in 2012.'

Ratz Rampage!

The 2nd and Final Ratz Rampage for this year took place Wednesday evening in bright sunny conditions on a damp but drying course. Despite heavy rain most of the day the conditions were surprisingly good with just a few puddles and the odd boggy section to negotiate. We tried our flat course this week round the famous Park Wood singletrack and despite an extended course the lap times for the leaders went just under 6 minutes on the second lap. The first lap had a long run in from the start to try to split the riders up on this fast flat course. However only a 3 man break with Mark Russell (Team Darenth/Wheelers), Graham Warby (Aston Hill MBC) and Chris Minter (Pedalon.co.uk) had split from the main field with the rest coming through in a long line all still jostling for position.
The chasing group of 9 riders stayed together for much of the race as did the leading trio. The three all tried attacks but they stuck together till lap 6, Minter made a move on lap 7 and a small gap formed at the front. Warby looked to be closing at one stage but Minter kept charging urged on by a crowd of his team mates not racing due to tired legs after competing at Sleepless in the Saddle at the weekend. He pulled away on the final 2 laps and came home 34 seconds clear of Warby and 48 seconds ahead of Russell.
Ben Gladwyn took a home win for the Ratz in the Club/Novice race and Karina Brookes of Ratz took the win in the Women's race. Matthew Bolsover won the Fun race which he completed 7 laps in 54 minutes which would have been good enough for 2nd in the Club/Novice.

The format is now tried, tested and was enjoyed by all who took part so we will be back next year with a full open summer series, with proper timing!

We have finally recieved our riding jerseys - check out the gallery for some pics our models *ahem* Mick *ahem* wearing them for an idea of how they look. We have a variety of long/short sleeved road jerseys in sizes from medium to XX large, Training tops and a couple of large downhill tops. Ask Mick about availability. Also we have and online store selling a few t-shirts, tops, hat and mugs with our logo emblazoned upon them. It�s an American store so all the prices are in US dollars, and you have to be care not to order over ?18 to avoid import duties, but due to the good exchange rate at the moment the price of the items are very good.
