There has been no more snow overnight so the race is on and we are leaving for site now. We do need commissaires but 2 are coming so I expect at least one to make it and Phil is closest and he has a 4x4. The roads are very icy though so take care.

As of lunchtime Saturday we are still planning to go ahead with the cross race tomorrow. The course is marked up ready to go, we ran in the snow last year and had some good racing, the course is very flat and not dangerous. Actually there is very little snow in the woods but 4 or 5 inches on the field.
The main roads are ok at the moment and the A4074 will probably be kept clear. The entrance we planned to use is off Main Street but that has a small slope up onto the field and if that proves tricky we can divert the entrance like we did last year which is flatter but it will be signed.
The only reason we will cancel is if the crew and commissaires can't get there in the morning. I will post again on here about 7-8am if we make that decision.

The Rampage is back for another year bigger and better then ever, now with on line entry.

The 1st Gear Cycles Rampage Series returns for 2010. The 2009 series was a success - everyone, from 8 year olds to elite athletes loved the fast, fun nature of the racing.
For 2010 the arena and course will be improved, making for even closer racing. The Checkendon course is an absolute classic. 2.5 miles of twisty, super-fast singletrack. It's a pure test of singletrack ability. The course is ideal for beginners, so if you've not raced before this is the ideal opportunity. Checkendon is mid way between Reading and Wallingford on the A4074.
Once again the Series will have BC points up for grabs, but you don't need any license or club membership to take part. Just a reliable bike and a helmet.

The Checkendon Course is sign-posted from the A4074 just north of Woodcote, between Wallingford and Reading. Entrance to arena is off Main Street.

For 2009 the Ratz Rampage is back bigger than ever and will be sponsored by 1st Gear Cycles of Alton www.1stgearcycles.com. The series will now be known as 1st Gear Cycles Rampage, the basic format will be expanded to offer a full range of categories including under 12's as the races will be BC sanctioned. The existing course will be extended by about 5 minutes which will add a small hill to the very fast and flat Park Wood circuit.
The races will be run as the new category F (Regional B) short course races and we believe we will be the first full category F series. Full BC ranking points will be available from 1st (15pts) down to 15th place (1 point).
The 1st Gear Cycles sponsorship means we can afford better prizes and trophies although I don't think anyone was disappointed with the massive cups last year! It also means they will have their excellent trade stand on site for those must have and emergency purchases plus their special offers.
1st Gear cysles will also be offering hot/cold drinks and snacks to refresh you after your race. We will aslo have a portaloo on site at all rounds so no more sneaking off into the bushes.
We will be using the tried and tested Racemate timing system once again. There will be no pre-entry but we will offer 'pre-register' where you email us to state your intention to race. This lets us get your details on the system and allocate your number to save you and us time on the day. When you arrive just hand over your cash, sign the BC sign on sheet and we give you your race number. You will also save money as we won't charge you the extra on the day entry fee if you pre-register.
All races will be at the Park Wood course at Hammonds Farm, Checkendon. Due to problems with one of the neighbours we have to use the back entrance to the farm in Bottom Lane postcode RG8 0NR. This will be signposted from the Woodcote/Checkendon staggered crossroads on the A4074 between Reading and Oxford. We are about 7 miles North West of Reading.
